LANcet Chat 2.3 is a freeware local chat app and networking program, developed by NetCrate Software for Windows. It's pretty feature-rich.

LANcet Chat is free software for real-time message exchange over local network (LAN). With it you don't need to install chat server. All participants can connect any time and they will see each other automatically. Just run chat on every computer and start talking immediately. Allows sending private messages.
LANcet Chat can start automatically with Windows and stay in tray and can be disabled easily using msconfig or from the settings. This chat program also uses sounds and popup windows for notification. LANcet Chat can display standard-type emoticons and smilies.
